EBSI
Also known as: European Blockchain Services Infrastructure
The European Blockchain Services Infrastructure — the EU's shared public infrastructure for cross-border trust services including verifiable credentials.
EBSI is the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure, a joint initiative of the European Commission and the European Blockchain Partnership. It provides a shared public-sector blockchain for cross-border trust services — including verifiable credentials, notarization, and diploma recognition across EU Member States.
EBSI defines a trusted-issuer accreditation model: an issuer of academic or professional credentials in the EU gets accredited via a chain of trust rooted in designated national authorities. A verifier can check that a credential was signed by a currently accredited EBSI-registered issuer.
LearnCoin is not an EBSI-accredited issuer today. EBSI trusted-issuer accreditation is on our 2026-2027 roadmap. The plan is to maintain dual-track conformance: LearnCoin credentials continue to be Blockcerts v3 + OB 3.0 native for the global market, and additionally an EBSI-compliant variant for EU public-sector customers when accreditation is complete.
